Dr. Moon’s Skills and Goals Cards

Teachers often ask counselors, “What do you and the student actually do together?”. I have a 2 part goal. 1) Discuss the issue that they present to me and 2) give them 2 skills that they can start working on right away. This shows the teacher and the parents what we are working on.

Watch Dr. Moon demonstrates how she uses a skills & goals card.

Here are some ideas and a template for you to use.

Something Fun!

Here is something neat! One of my internship students has this laminated as a two-sided card for elementary students.  She keeps it on her staff badge lanyard.  If she wants to check in with a student, she shows them the card.  They can pick their emotion and where the problem is occurring. This is great for small students who need help expressing themselves!
